Carbon Management Class

The Certificate IV in Carbon Management is a nationally accredited workplace qualification which gives you the skills and knowledge to develop and implement whole-of-organisation Carbon Management Response Plans in order to performance manage carbon emission reduction strategies for enterprises.
This para-professional qualification is designed for candidates at the supervisor, manager and executive level.

As you go through the course you will develop skills and competencies which will enable you to understand the strategic implications of carbon emissions for business and how emissions reduction strategies can be implemented using business planning frameworks, supported by existing business systems.
By analysing how organisations use resources and, by learning how to implement carbon reduction initiatives, you will be able to reduce costs with the aim of improving profits whilst reducing negative environmental impacts.

Study requirements

The workshops are spread out to enable you to gather data from your workplace in between sessions to enable you to build a working Carbon Management Response Plan.
In addition to attending the face-to-face workshops, you will need to complete up to 15 hours of workplace activities, along with research and assessment tasks each week for the duration of the workshops - a lot of this time will be engaging with colleagues and carrying out research at your workplace. You will be given a further 4 weeks to pull together all your coursework after the completion of the workshops in order to finalise your working Carbon Management Response Plan.

To support your study you will be given a log in account to the Carbon Training International e-Learning platform for the duration of your course to enable you to access your class notes and resources on the go.

Assist implementation and monitoring of a Carbon Management Response Plan
Measure and monitor a carbon footprint
Source, Evaluate and Purchase Carbon Offsets
Develop and communicate a workplace Carbon Management Response Plan
Implement and monitor Carbon Management Response Plan
Complete a carbon Life Cycle Analysis for a product or service
Evaluate, select and implement a greenhouse gas abatement program
Market and promote a Carbon Management Response Plan and carbon emissions reduction claims
Identify and evaluate opportunities for cogeneration, combined cooling, heating and power

Creating a Carbon Management Response Plan (CMRP)

A critical component of the training is for you to demonstrate competency in designing and developing a Carbon Management Response Plan and the strategic management of its implementation into the business. If you do not currently work within an organisation it is possible to partner with course peers - especially those working in large organisations - whom you will be able to work with in order to complete your coursework.
