"The Ribbon Supply is a major distributor of cash register rolls throughout Australia. We sell both local and imported paper products. The paper industry in Australia is a major contributor to greenhouse emissions throughout the entire life cycle of the product. The challenges confronting the industry in relation to the proposed carbon emissions trading scheme will require my company’s supply chain to introduce significant changes to their current business practices.

As part of the company’s risk management strategy, the decision to train all staff to a level of competence in the issues surrounding the carbon emissions trading scheme and its likely impact on our industry was taken in 2008. The proposed courses offered by Carbon Training International, based on the Australian Quality Training Framework, met our needs by offering two courses at two levels that allowed all staff the opportunity of accessing skills at levels appropriate to their needs.

“There is great value in the carbon management course run by CTI. We are gaining a broad range of useful, practical skills and we are covering a broad range of content in a useful level of detail. It offers great networking opportunities and due to the diverse backgrounds of participants the class generates really interesting and stimulating discussion. Working for Carbon Careers, a boutique recruitment company servicing the low carbon economy, I speak with many people looking for jobs and many are now re-training in greenskills to better position themselves for employment. The individuals that do this will be much better positioned to take the opportunities that will arise from the low-carbon economy”.

“I chose to enrol in the Carbon Management Course because I believe climate change is set to become the biggest issue or our generation and it is crucial that we are equipped with the knowledge, skills and tools to manage our carbon footprint in both a business and personal context.  The course provides a good introduction to this."
